interesting take on experimental ministry

Johnny Baker pointed to a wiki site of a cool way to look at/try new types of ministry. Check out Church on the Edge's about page. Apparently they are working in "rural" Britain. That would be a new mode of things that are emerging/21st century. All the stuff that I've seen about new types of ministry are urban. Have any of you seen anything other than urban? Take a ganger, its very interesting!

staub log

there is a resource that i became aware of a number of years ago & have continued to subscribe to it's weekly e-newsletter. it's put out by dick staub called & culture watch.

the link above takes you to a recent posting he made about current, younger leadership & their relationship to the old-guard. some good thoughts about inter-connecting the generations & a sense of learning from one another.

dick is a seattle-based writer who's time is spent identifying the quest of american spiritual quest & how it is often un-linked from the church.

so a couple of ?'s for this:

how do we celebrate the new & fresh without trampling the by-gone era?

i'm fully behind the idea that the best stuff is still yet to come. but how do we make sure that we're not running ruf-shod over those that have come before us?

non-negotiables

Has anyone caught the Young Life debacle, forcing all staff to sign a statement that shores up and protects the threats of neo-orthodox theology? Well, a few YL leaders in North Carolina refused to sign it, and they were given the ax! Many folks have weighed in on this, from Marko, Tony Jones, Christian Century, Christianity Today, etc. I will link Tony Jones for you, and that will get you everywhere else.

Meanwhile, what are your thoughts? Do you have any threats of shoring up theological boundaries in your circle? Ever felt you could lose your job, if you didn't "sign" on?

More specifically, how do you evangelize? Do you utilize a linear approach, or do you cast your sail?

thanks for the recap marko

I was catching up on my googlereader feeds and I saw a recap from Mark Oestreicher from Youth Specialties. I caught THIS Willow-esque confession.... oh, just about a year late. Thanks for the year in review MarkO. I would have missed it. I stopped going to YS conventions because of what he's talking about. I'm glad they're going in a different direction. It seemed to me that they were based on the books that they were hyping in the catalog.
