An Interview

[I don't remember the last time I had two real posts in the same day!]

Lloyd posted a link for an interview by Jim Lyon with Dan Allender of Mars Hill Graduate School in Seattle. The best part is that it was aired on CBH Radio. I'm excited about what this exposure can mean for our discussion.

A Reminder

I was at the ChOG in MI Youthworker's Retreat. I was reminded of why I got into this conversation: A calling by God to help the Church of God transition into the future. So the language given to me through books and discussions was words like postmodern, modern, emergent, expeirantial, relational, EPIC, etc. I discovered also that the church in Western Culture for the most part still opperates in the modern worldview. So what's the problem? here's a picture I made incase you're a visual learner.

This is why I want to continue this conversation. If we as the church continue to do minsitry in the modern way we won' t be "in the [same] wolrd" as the people that we are wanting to share Jesus with. We won't be speaking the same language.

Now I've picked up on some vibes lately that tell me the church is getting more comfortable in talking about this issue. Not completely yet. It's kind of like letting a salesman give their pitch first before you slam the door in their face. 3 years ago I feel like I got a lot of doors slammed in my face. No willingness to talk. That is changing.

I leave you with a Jerry Maguire quote "You think we're fightin', I think we're finally talkin'!"
